Spirit Retiring All A319's by 2026

The company announced on Jan. 23 that it will be retiring all 31 of its A319-100's by the end of 2025. Spirit stated in a stock market filing that it has a greed to sell 29 aircraft to Gryphon Aircraft Leasing, netting $152-201 million for the low-cost carrier. The remaining 2 A319's will return to the lessor at the end of the contract, which expires at the end of 2025. Spirit does have a firm order of 31 replacement A319-100neo's with Airbus at this time, but no time frame for delivery has been announced.
