The German airline has placed an order for widebody aircraft with both Boeing and Airbus. The Airbus order entails 10 A350-1000s and 5 A350-900s. Boeing's order docket shows a total of 7 787-9's being asked for. Boeing already has an order from Lufthansa for their 777-9, expected to be certified in 2025, but no official total has been mentioned. Lufthansa says it's looking to reduce its quad-jet fleet (B747, A340) to 15%, down from 50% during the pandemic.
