In the early morning of Mar. 26, a driver was running from police in a 2014 Mustang GT at speeds of up to 150 mph when the police department launched its helicopter to assist in the pursuit. The Robinson R44 departed its base around 2:30am and crashed 12 minutes later into a field after reportedly hitting a tree, killing both occupants aboard the helicopter. The fleeing suspect was later arrested after ditching his escape vehicle, and is being charged with two counts of manslaughter, aggravated flight and obstruction, and a hit and run. He is being held on a $950,000 bond. The wreckage of the helicopter wasn't found until ~6 hours after the crash.
