Alaska Airlines Adding 3 San Diego Routes

The additional routes will bump Alaska's offerings from 32 to 35 destinations out of SAN. The Eugene (EUG) and Dulles (IAD) routes will start on June 15, with Tampa (TPA) kicking off on Oct. 4. All three routes will offer daily service, with IAD/TPA operating on Alaska's B737-900, the Eugene route will be operated by SkyWest on a E175. Alaska Airlines won't face competition with the route to Tampa, but it will go head-to-head with United on the Dulles route. Alaska will also fight for market share on the Eugene route, competing with Southwest & Allegiant. Alaska has increased its dominance over the California market, operating up to 330 flights a day to, from, or within California.
