Air India Places Largest Individual Aircraft Order In History

Announced the week of Feb. 13, Air India has placed an order for 470 total aircraft, making it the largest order ever in terms of total individual aircraft ordered. The deal, worth an estimated $68 billion USD, is the second largest order in terms of value, falling behind a 2013 order by Emirates worth $78 biilion. The order with Boeing also has an option for an additional 70 aircraft. The total order included aircraft variants from both Airbus & Boeing, with details as follows:


Airbus - 70 A321neos, 140 A320neos, 6 A350-900s, 34 A350-1000s. Total: 250 aircraft.

Boeing - 190 737 MAX Variants, 20 787 Variants, and 10 777Xs. Total: 220 aircraft.
